Hello again. Welcome to day 4 of our 30-day cleaning challenge. The object of this challenge, is to eliminate the weekend clean-a-thon by cleaning a section of your home for just 20 minutes a day – every day. If you want to start the challenge from day 1, click here.
Today we’ll be:
Surface clean “extra” rooms – basement, office, entry way
In my case, “extra” rooms mean my office and hubby’s “man cave.”
I started with my office. Gave my desk a good dusting
And a quick clean with a sponge and water
Next, the chair and foot stool.
There are two reasons why I put this chair in my office. One, because I love it. I rescued it from a dumpster (no, I didn’t actually go dumpster diving – it was sitting next to a dumpster looking sad and dejected) and I took it home and “upcycled” it. You can read about how we did that here. The other reason is that, when I get tired of sitting on my office chair, I can sit in this nice comfortable one and continue working. Wrong! My cats thought that this chair was placed there just for them! My dark-haired cats. As a result, it’s covered in cat fur – as you can see.
Fortunately, the pet fur attachment on my Dyson cleans this in seconds
A quick dusting of the chest that I’m using as a coffee table
Empty the bin
Vacuum the carpet
And that’s my office – done!
Next – hubby’s “man cave.” This room is a little trickier due to the fact that he has a lot of books and small ornaments.
That’s why I like the Swiffer duster so much. It’s really good for dusting these little ornaments, and the books and bookshelves. It gets into all the small spaces also.
I resist the urge to move things around to make it more pleasing to the eye – to “girly-fy” it. Instead, I just dust, straighten and vacuum
This room is tiny, so I’m done in about 5 minutes.
Gosh – I’m all finished. It’s too early for wine, so I think I’ll wash my hair. 🙂
See you tomorrow!
