Basil Paloma Cocktail

My second liquor love behind Vodka, is tequila. I just love it! I’ve gotten myself into my fair share of trouble with tequila shots (sorry to everyone who’s ever had to witness it – especially my hubby), but I just can’t stay away. I don’t drink much tequila in the winter months, but it’s been very warm here in coastal Vancouver which makes me long to sip pretty drinks on my patio. So you’ll appreciate my delight when I came across a whole bunch of cocktail recipes involving tequila. The one that appealed to me most was something called


8 basil leaves, divided
1 1/2 oz (45 ml) Patron Silver Tequila
1 1/2 oz (45 ml) fresh grapefruit juice
1/2 oz (15 ml) lime juice
1 1/2 oz (45 ml) grapefruit soda such as Pellegrino Pompelmo
grapefruit slice for garnish

In a shaker, combine 7 basil leaves, tequila, grapefruit juice, lime juice and ice. Shake well. Fine strain over new ice in a Collins glass. Top with grapefruit soda. Garnish with basil leaf and grapefruit slice.
