Meal Planning: Weekly Dinner Plan - Weekly 16

Hello lovely readers. It’s already Meal Planning Monday!

A meal plan is a great way to save money at the grocery store and solves the daily question “what’s for dinner?” It also save loads of time in the evenings after work. My favourite part. I use a Google spread sheet for my menu plans, but you can use whatever you feel comfortable with or what works for you – a simple notebook, a scrap of paper tacked to the fridge, or you can find some meal-planning notebooks here.

Some time ago, hubby bought me a cocktail shaker (I love cocktails). But, alas, my visions of sipping homemade cocktails on my sunshine-draped patio were dashed due to Vancouver’s inclement weather 🙁  Until now :).  So, for the foreseeable future at least, I’m going to include a cocktail recipe for those lazy weekend barbecue days where you can sit back and sip on the Cocktail of the Week while your significant other grills your dinner.

This week’s cocktail is from the recipe book Thug Kitchen 101.  (Warning: if you don’t like bad language, this is not the book for you.)

Dirty Dianne (named after someone the authors knew). Makes 2 drinks

Dirty Dianne-Thug Kitchen 101

3 sprigs fresh roasemary, plus more for garnish


2/3 cup pineapple juice

1/3 cup orange juice

2 tablespoons lemon juice

1 cup vodka

In a big jar with a tight-fitting lid, or in a cocktail shaker, throw rosemary, about a cup of ice, all the juices and the vodka. Shake so that the rosemary gets all bruised by the ice and releases some of its oils. Then strain out the ice and the rosemary and pour the drink into 2 glasses with a fresh sprig of rosemary to garnish.
