Well, what started out as a simple bedroom spring cleaning, turned into a bit of a nightmare – I ended up steam-cleaning the bedroom carpet twice after discovering my cat did her, er, business in one corner! She’s never done that before.
It was a sunny day yesterday, so a good day to steam clean the bedroom carpet and I thought that I might as well spring clean the bedroom while I’m at it! I hadn’t noticed how messy this room had become. I guess we accumulate things and put them where we think we’ll need them and then just forget about them over time.
I started by gathering all my cleaning supplies so I don’t have to keep running up and down the stairs – I’d already been to the gym that morning.
And then I removed all the bedding , throw pillow covers and dog’s bedding for laundering
A quick sprinkle of baking soda on the mattress. Baking soda freshens up the fabric and all, er, stale odours that might be lurking within. I let it sit for a bit while I cleaned the rest of the room.
Everything was removed from the night stand shelves
and the things that shouldn’t be in the bedroom were removed – I had some help, as you can see 🙂
Books that had piled up on the night stands were put back on the book cases
Next, everything was given a good dusting
After everything everything was beautiful and clean and dust-free, I put back only things on the night stands that are necessary for all things relaxing and sleep-related
And TV-related things next to the TV
Vacuumed up the baking soda on the mattress
Next, I prepped the carpet for steam cleaning by vacuuming
and then deep cleaning with our carpet cleaner
I couldn’t do anymore until the carpet was completely dry, so I rewarded myself with a cup of tea.
As mentioned earlier, I had to re-do the carpet due to very naughty cat doing her business on it (grrrrr!), but once it was all dry and smelling lovely again, I put the room back together
And celebrated with a glass of wine – yes, it was wine o’clock by then!
Whew! That was hard work.
Only 2 more days until the weekend.
Talk to you soon
