Indoor Zen Garden to Make

Hello all. I’ve had this glass bowl kicking around the living room since last summer 😳.

The original idea was to put it on our balcony and fill it with water and floating candles, but somehow that never materialized. Sooo, after washing all the dust off it several times and putting it back under the end table in our living room, I finally decided to do something with it. I came up with a kind of zen garden using a few things I found at the dollar store.

To make this, you will need:

A bowl. I used a glass bowl, but you can use anything you like. A terracotta tray that goes under potted plants will do just as nicely, or a shallow wooden bowl – anything that you think you would like. If you don’t have anything at home, it’s a good excuse to visit your local thrift store. πŸ˜‰

2 jars of white pebbles (or any other colour that you prefer). My bowl took 1 1/2 jars.

One Jar of gravel in a darker colour

A bag of river stones

And various little pieces that you would like to decorate your garden with. I used a pond, a tree, a bench and some fake succulents for mine.

Step 1. Place the white pebbles in your bowl and fill it until the pebbles are flush with the top of your bowl.

Step 2. Decide where you would like to place your ornaments and plants. I put the pond on the left-hand side

And then the tree, the bench next to it.

Step 3. Drizzle some of the gravel around the front of these pieces to make a kind of divider and also something to break up the white.

Step 4. Place two or three of the river stones in the front and add some of the succulents around them.

And it’s done!

It looks lovely by my fireplace.

Enjoy!
