My Weight Loss Journey – Week 3

Hey everyone. Welcome to week 3 of my weight loss/fitness journey. To read from the beginning, click here.

A quick background – I’m on the wrong side of 50 and, after I quit smoking 7 years ago, I put on 40lbs! As you can see, I’ve haven’t been very successful in losing it, although, lack of exercise and ice cream hasn’t really helped!

Day 13 – Saturday, September 4 – Weight is 171.4 (still)

Well, I guess I’m still holding on to that water that’s helping my muscles to heal. Went for a beautiful walk this morning and upped it to an extra 10 minutes – so 40 minutes now – 4,627 steps. I must admit that it was quite a struggle those extra 10 minutes, but there’s not point in getting fit if I don’t increase the exercise, right?

I’ve been averaging about 2 litres of water a day so far.

Breakfast – another smoothie. Lunch was a Low-Yolk Egg Salad open faced sandwich (only one slice of whole wheat bread) from Skinny Taste.

And for supper we had Asian Salmon, Sticky Rice and Dressed Greens from Jamie Oliver’s 15-Minute Meals cookbook. His recipe was for Sea Bass, but there was none to be had in the store.

Day 14 – Sunday, September 5 – Weight is 170.6! YAY!

Finally! Weight is going down! 💃

Yoga today – day 7 of Adrien’s 30-day challenge. Today was all about arms which are my weakest thing at this stage. I managed all but this pose

I couldn’t even figure out how to even begin to get into that pose! But I’m sure it will come when I get stronger.

Today was a different kind of day because hubby’s home for the weekend (he’s a long-haul truck driver) and we usually go out when he’s here. We decided to go for coffee and lunch at an Italian coffee shop. I had a lovely cappucccino coffee

And we shared this pizza which was nothing like I’ve ever had before

The crust was not a regular pizza crust, but very light and non-doughy. Some kind of sauce was spread on it before they topped it with fresh arugula and prosciutto, and then drizzle with balsamic vinegar. Although it doesn’t look very appetizing, it was absolutely delicious!

I treated myself to a small scoop of gelato – chocolate, hazel nut, cherry! 💓

A lovely glass of wine on our patio before supper – Pasta Pesto, Garlic and Rosemary Chicken, which I had for supper last week. It was so delicious, I had to make it again for hubby.

Day 15 Monday, September 6

I forgot to weight myself today. Hubby and I went for a walk – 5,181 steps.

Had my smoothie for breakfast and then lunch was a bit messed up as I was making hubby his truck meals and sampling as I went 🤣 so no real lunch to speak of.

In the evening, we barbecued ribs, a lovely green salad and a potato salad. And, of course, a vodka! And then a couple of these marsh mallow churro thingys – 100 calories for 4!

Day 16 – Tuesday, September 7 – Weight is 170.6

It’s going down! Yay!

Yoga today – day 8 of Adrien’s 30 day yoga challenge. Today was a kind of meditation yoga. Lots of stretching at the hips and inner thighs, lots of balancing. Very restorative. I had no idea that yoga could make me feel good on the inside too!

Another smoothie for breakfast. Getting into a nice rhythm here.

Another Low-Yolk Egg salad sandwich for lunch and then I polished off the rest of the Marsh Mallow Churros thingies from yesterday – there were only two left.

Supper was leftovers of the barbecued ribs and the salad – no cooking tonight. 😄

I didn’t drink as much water today for some reason – only 1.5 litres, but it’s better than nothing.

Day 17 – Wednesday, September 8 – Weight is 170

170! Yay! 4,173 steps today. Beautiful view on my walk and butterflies on someone’s porch.

Another smoothie for breakfast and a turkey club sandwhich for lunch

For supper I made salmon cakes out of the leftover salmon from Saturday. Added brown rice with mushrooms and red peppers. And a yoghurt for a snack.

Day 18 – Thursday, September 9 – Weight is 170

Worked really hard today on day 9 of Adrien’s 30-day yoga challenge. All planks and lunges and warrior poses with modified twists. I actually broke a sweat! 🥵 There was some huffing and puffing and a grunt or two in some parts! 😤 Some of the poses I did the the modified version, but I managed them all! 💪

For my smoothie this morning, I added frozen grapes, strawberries and pineapple, and half a banana, instead of blueberries. Tasted really good.

Lunch – another Low-Yolk egg salad and for supper I had vegetarian Daal, Warm Tomato Salad and Naan.

Day 19 – Weight is 170

No weight loss, BUT I’ve lost another 1/2 inch on my waist and hips! Yay!

Still managing approximately 2 litres of water a day. I’ll make an effort to step that up moving forward.

Had a lovely walk this morning, but only 3,847 steps. Will also have to up this next week also, weather permitting. It was a beautiful morning and, instead of listening to music or a masterclass as I usually do on my walks, today I just enjoyed the fresh air, the sound of the birds and the stillness of this lake.

I loved yesterday’s smoothie so much, I made it again today. Grapes, strawberries, 1/2 a banana, pineapple, 1 cups of spinach, 1 cup of almond milk and 2 tablespoons of oats. For lunch I’ll be having another turkey club sandwich and supper will be a meatless pasta dish.

It’s Friday, so a lovely glass of wine on my patio.
