Hello again! Welcome to day 18 of our 30-day cleaning challenge. The idea is to clean a different area of your house for just 20 minutes a day and thus avoid the Saturday (or Sunday) clean-a-thon. If you’ve just joined us, click here to start your 30-day cleaning challenge.
Today’s task is:
Clean out the refrigerator, take stock of food, organize pantry
I can’t remember the last time my fridge got a good cleaning. Today just happened to coincide with grocery shopping day (and meal planning). This is what my fridge looked like
Pretty full, right? I wanted to see exactly how much food we already had before I bought any more. So I took everything out of it and put it on the kitchen counter.
That’s quite a lot of food – and I haven’t even got to the pantry yet.
So I made a list of everything I had on hand from the fridge, the pantry and the freezer, and tried to match up some meals – list of food on the left, possible meals on the right
And gained back some containers
Lastly, I moved some fridge shelves around so everything would fit properly and put all the food back.
A few months ago, I reorganized my entire pantry (an Ikea hack), which you can read about here. And then I had to do some tweaking to suit my needs. Click here to read about that. I’ve managed to keep it pretty well organized. I ended up just having to wipe the glass doors to removed toddler finger-prints! 🙂
See you tomorrow!
